Teacher Spotlight: Eden Sweeney
Our Teacher Spotlight Series continues with Eden Sweeney.
Why did you start practicing yoga?
I grew up dancing and was looking for another form of movement as I got older. I loved the mind body connection and kept coming back for more.
Why do you keep practicing yoga?
Mind-body-spirit connection. Practicing yoga creates space for the mind and body to actively connect and work in harmony as one. It has allowed me to cultivate inner peace, which in turn influences how I move through life. It serves as an anchor, a centering and opportunity to breathe and return to the present moment both on and off the mat.
How has yoga impacted your life off the mat?
It has given me a sense of peace. It has given me ability to find my breath and navigate through life with a bit more grace.
Outside of practicing yoga, what other activities do you enjoy?
Outside of practicing yoga, I love spending time with my husband, daughter, and our dog in our hometown of Newburyport, MA. We love being by the water, on our boat and you can find us walking Luna on the rail trail often.
What do you hope your students take away from your classes?
I hope my students leave with more body awareness and connection and an overall sense of well-being, both physically and mentally.
What do you find most rewarding about being a yoga teacher?
I love being able to guide, support and walk along people holding space for themselves to turn within.
What’s something on your bucket list?
My bucket list has evolved through the years, but currently it is to travel more with our daughter and learn at least one more language.
What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
I speak Spanish.
Any mantra or quote you live by?
Be where your feet are.
